What does the most recent twin research tell us about genetics and homosexuality?

Michael Bailey and his collegues reported in a 2000 study* that 11% of homosexual men who have an identical twin share homosexuality with that twin (3 out of 27). This is known as a pairwise rate of concordance. Lesbians had a 14% (3 of 22) concordance rate in their study. These twins were raised together thus confounding the explanation of the similarities. Suffice it to say that the identical twins of most homosexual twins are straight. By comparison, there are studies showing a near 90% concordance rate for height. So clearly analogies to height and eye color break down immediately. Environment clearly plays a role in the development of same sex attraction and subsequent gay/lesbian identity formation.
